There is a lot of crazy stuff about players, trainers, games, and rivals in our excellent football history, but this one is special. Here we will show five times when you wouldn’t even bet that those things happen.
Fergie
In the first place is one and only – great Fergie. He was known for his difficult sayings to players that didn’t play well, among other great things. One of many happened in February 2003 after the match with Arsenal in Fa Cup. They confronted in the locker room, where Ferguson throw a football boot at David Beckham.
In his book “My Autobiography,” he explains that he was in one part of the room and Beckham was in another one. In the middle of them were shoes. Beckham cursed, so Fergie heard that, and he headed towards him. As he did that, he kicked football boots at him and almost hit him in the eye. Later, Ferguson accused Beckham’s wife, Victoria, saying that he changed since he got married to her, and soon after that incident, Beckham left Red Devils for Real Madrid.
The Special One
Second place will take The Special One, José Mourinho. He is crazy, harsh, hilarious, especially after the El Clasico in April 2011, where things went wrong. However, he was hysterical because somebody secretly reported his team lineup that morning, and Mou took it personally.
Diego Torres wrote about this event in his book. Based on the quotation, we can conclude that Mou’s got his feelings hurt. He said that the whole team let him down, and then he cursed them and their next of kin. However, crazy Mou didn’t stop there. He found a witch so that she can help him to find a traitor. For him, that traitor was Casillas.
Mancio
Italian football manager Roberto Mancini took third place. Mancio had a confrontation with Mario Balotelli at Man City after one of the matches. He asked his players to be careful with their teammate Clichy who just started to train after he was injured, and of course, Balotelli tackled him like it is the finals of the Champions League. In the photos, Mancio tried to push Balotelli, but he was too steady to move him. However, he said that it wasn’t terrible as it looked in the pictures.
A few weeks later, he said that same story, but he also said that the injured teammate was Scott S., not Clichy. This whole situation didn’t help the sport betting fans. The odds of them winning after the fact were lower than usual, so many of them were reluctant to go ahead with their predictions as there was a lot of uncertainty wearing down the team and missing unity.
Delio Rossi
The next legendary coach is Delio Rossi. He is almost always calm, but this time, he lost his temper immediately, and his players should have kept away from making any funny gestures towards him. In a Seria A match against Novara, Rossi decided to replace Adem Ljajic after half an hour of the first half.
So, Ljajic was ironically clapping for the decision, and Delio right away went furious. He was so heated that he went to Ljajic, intending to knock him out, but other players and staff set them apart. Finally, Fiorentina’s president Andrea Della Valle said that they know how Rossi is calm, but this was too much, and after that game, he sacked him.
Il Trapp
And last but not least is another Italian coach, Giovanni Trapattoni. In March 1998, Il Trapp made one of the most significant and most memorable press conferences. FC Bayern M. lost to FC Schalke 04, and after the match, he annihilated his players. He also said that his power forwards weren’t professional players at all, treating them as a bunch of amateurs and even compared them with empty bottles.
