The AI-powered and mood-reactive Lepro TB1 LED smart lamp adapts to your space, your music and your emotions

Most lamps are just lamps—functional, maybe even stylish, but rarely something you’d call immersive or memorable. The Lepro TB1 Smart Table Lamp flips that on its head, turning light into something closer to performance art than home lighting. This is a lamp that listens, reacts, creates and transforms your space—not just illuminates it.

And if that sounds like an overstatement, I would’ve thought so too—until I tried it.

As more Canadians work from home and contend with long, dark winters, smart lighting has become more than just a novelty. It’s a tool for boosting productivity, improving mood and easing eye strain, especially in the evening when natural light fades early.

The TB1 arrives flat-packed and assembles easily. Once upright, it looks like something from the Star Trek universe. The design features three aluminum alloy rings—the outer one fixed, the two inner rings able to rotate up to 300 degrees. It rests on a compact polycarbonate base and weighs less than a kilogram.

Rotating inner rings add a dynamic, sci-fi touch to the TB1, making it part tech, part décor.

Its space-age appearance draws attention, but it’s surprisingly practical. The footprint is small enough for nightstands or desks, and the glow is soft and glare-free—ideal for reading, working or winding down. It uses LEDs, so it’s energy-efficient and cool to the touch, making it suitable for prolonged use without bumping up your energy bill.

Looks aside, what makes the TB1 different is how it lets you control the light it produces. All of the TB1’s custom features—DIY, music sync and AI—are accessed through the companion iOS or Android app, enabling you to easily get the most from it.

DIY mode turns the lamp into a digital light canvas. With nearly 200 LEDs, you can select from a spectrum of 16 million colours, draw effects, adjust transitions or animate your own designs using a palette in the app. It’s playful, intuitive and easy to lose time exploring.

Its LightBeats Music Sync mode allows the lamp respond to sound—either from your phone or a built-in microphone in the base. The light pulses, flows or flashes in sync with audio from your device or ambient sound in the room. Nine visual effect options are included. Each is adjustable depending on your mood or the style of music.

AI mode is the most surprising. Rather than scrolling through menus, you can type or speak natural prompts like “I feel tired,” “Set gaming scene,” or “Create Halloween lighting.” You can also upload a photo and have the lamp generate a colour scheme to match. It’s powered by LightGPM 2.0, Lepro’s in-house large language model trained on lighting design and colour psychology—and it works remarkably well. Whether you want to relax, party or boost focus, the TB1 adjusts the environment in seconds.

Once you’ve customized a setting, you can save it, schedule it to run at specific times or create automations—like turning off the light when music stops. The lamp connects via Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) for full access, or Bluetooth for limited offline control. It remembers your last setting, so when powered on again, it picks up right where you left off.

There’s no denying the TB1 has a learning curve to fully master. The app interface is dense and offers more lighting combinations than most people will ever use.

But for curious users, that depth becomes a creative sandbox. If you enjoy experimenting and personalizing, you’ll likely be impressed.

Still, there’s room for improvement. The lamp’s only physical button controls power and reset/pairing—it would benefit from controls like a dimmer or favourites toggle. A USB charging port would also add convenience, particularly for students or spaces with limited outlets. These are small misses, but noticeable in an otherwise thoughtful design.

If you’re unsure where to start or want inspiration, Lepro’s online community offers ready-made ideas like “Mars lighting,” “Northern Lights” or “holiday fireplace glow”—making it easy to explore without starting from scratch.

Functionally, the TB1 serves well as a regular lamp. Its light is adjustable and easy on the eyes, and the colour options let you shift the mood of a space without moving furniture. For Canadians dealing with long winters, small rooms or home office fatigue, customizable lighting can make a real difference in how a space feels.

Retailing for $109.99 in Canada—but often available for less (currently $71.49 on Amazon.ca with a 35 per cent off coupon)—it delivers strong value. You can also find it at Best Buy or order directly from Lepro. If the triple-ring look doesn’t appeal, the company also offers the TB2, a treble-clef-shaped model with similar features.

Our verdict

The Lepro TB1 Smart Table Lamp blends fun and function in an affordable package. With a sci-fi look, smooth app control and surprisingly clever AI features, it’s a great fit for students, home offices or anyone looking to add personality and interactivity to their lighting.

If you prefer a simple lamp that works out of the box without apps or Wi-Fi, this probably isn’t for you. But if you’ve ever wondered whether a lamp could actually be exciting, the TB1 might surprise you.
